About This Blogger

A picture I took with my phone when I
graduated with my B.A. in Philosophy!

I’m interested in integrating technology resources into learning and performance contexts to help people learn and live well. I have a background in philosophy, a passion for learning processes and cognitive skills, a penchant for learning about and using technology resources, and a strong aptitude for helping people. Through this blog I'll share my thoughts and interests on how technology resources can help people learn, perform, and live well.

We live in an age where technology resources afford us convenient ways to quickly get entertainment, organize experiences, communicate, create, share, interact, collaborate, and learn. Some of us have even been born into ways of life where access to information technologies, applications and data are no stranger than tying one's shoe or less convenient than counting from 0 to 1.

I think the booming consumerization of hardware—of eReaders, tablets, and smartphones, not just desktops, laptops, or netbooks—and the different operating systems available for access to applications and data has proven that people are willing to use technology resources for learning and performing well, not simply for entertainment. Just as information technologies are used every day to help people manage information and do things more productively, efficiently, and resiliently, these technologies can be used to help people learn.

I also think the Internet, web 2.0 tools, web browsers (and their plug-ins or extensions), desktop applications, and applications for getting, keeping, creating, and sharing data across platforms can all be used to help people learn well and perform well in their lives. Professionals and individuals are using these resources to facilitate learning both in and out of educational institutions.

I seek to help people use technologies that contribute to their learning or instructional processes. This is why I enjoy instructional design and the integration of technology resources into learning and performance contexts. It's also why I use this blog!
